The Marshalls Building Is on the Market Again

••• The Rosewood Miramar Resort has done a marketing deal with Lily Pulitzer Dior to plaster the brand’s patterns and logo all over for the duration of the summer.

••• The Marshalls building at 900 State Street is on the market for $20.671 million. The seller is hoping that lightning strikes twice: in 2013, the 38,000-square-foot building “sold for $14.3 million in an all-cash off-market deal, marking a 43 percent premium over the last time the property changed hands [in 2011],” reported the Pacific Coast Business Times at the time. There’s no indication of when Marshalls’s lease is up, but the listing agents wrote in an ad that it’s “substantially below market.” That building is a tough nut to crack….

••• Two more upcoming shows at the Lobero Theatre: Toad the Wet Sprocket with Summercamp (September 4 and 5) and Judy Collins (February 15).

••• And comedian Chelsea Handler plays the Santa Barbara Bowl on August 21. Speaking of the Bowl, after I bought tickets for Lord Huron—whose new album, Long Lost, is sublime—and then whined about how the ticketing platform requires an app (but found a workaround), we can’t even go. So now I have to download the app if I want to give the tickets to someone else. P.S. The video below is like a groaner supercut.

••• From Caltrans: “The Gaviota Roadside Rest Areas near US 101 will undergo a major Wastewater System Improvement Project beginning Friday, June 11. As a result, the Gaviota Rest Areas will be closed in both directions 24/7 until February of 2022.”

••• The proposed addition of a modular addition at Santa Barbara Airport has a new design, to be discussed at the June 14 meeting of the city’s Architectural Board of Review. (The previous design is here.) If you’re driving to the airport, you’d see it as you made that last left curve toward the terminal.

••• The owner of 809 Park Lane in Montecito, wants to “reconfigure two legal lots of 15.238 and 1.703 acres into three legal lots of 5.637, 5.341, and 5.962 acres”; it’s to be discussed at the June 16 meeting of the Montecito Planning Commission.

••• This Saturday (12:30-4:30 p.m.), the Shopkeepers hosts local designer Ryan Shand. “Shand is a luxury womenswear brand that expresses sophistication and elegance. Each piece has its own story. [And] this is your chance to get first dibs on one of a kind Shand Vault pieces. Vault is an extension of Shand that includes altered and upcycled vintage garments.”

The Dior sponsorship is gross. I had truly hoped these type of vulgarities would never make it to Santa Barbara.
