Shop Local Gift Guide, Part 2: Domecíl and Field + Fort

This holiday season make an effort to spend your money here—because if you want wonderful independent shops, you need to support them. I’ve done some advance work at Domecíl and Field + Fort, and of course there’s far more in both shops than whatever caught my eye.

First up, Domecíl in Victoria Court:

···············

Pascale Vaquette vases, so pretty they don’t even need flowers ($350).

···············

Ceramic bells by Mt. Washington Pottery (around $160).

···············

Weapon of choice: three-piece gaucho knife-fork set ($175).

···············

Rafael Adon soap balls ($16).

···············

Sweet tidings: Bacanha syrups ($22).

···············

Drawing pads ($25-$29); imagination not included.

···············

Unmade bed photograph, one of many by Jen Huang Bogan ($85).

···············

And now, Field + Fort in Summerland:

Polar bear ornament ($25).

···············

Elizabeth W bath fizz tablets ($20), not to be confused with gelt.

···············

Chic dominoes set ($30).

···············

No one really needs a spurtle ($18), but the word sure is fun to say.

···············

Notebooks for the whole family ($14-$18).

···············

Fur wine bottle bags that look like something Elke Sommer would’ve worn back in the day ($24).

················

El Arroyo ornament ($18); the rest of the year, hang it on your rearview mirror.

Domecil is such an amazing shop: they have high end artisan products which are so beautiful that I hang my blue and white striped basket on a hook when not using as decor: but they also have “smalls” like Thomas Keller chocolate bars: oh my!
