Santa Barbara to Make Life Difficult for Liquor Stores

••• “Santa Barbara to Enforce Drinking, Nuisance and Loitering Laws Near Liquor Stores, Markets […] The City Council adopts a series of reforms that would regulate sales of alcohol, and businesses that don’t comply risk suspension or fines.” This is such an overreach. —Noozhawk

••• Santa Barbara Ice & Propane on Milpas Street appears to have gone out of business. —Edhat

••• From a press release on Edhat: “The City of Goleta will be appealing the County of Santa Barbara’s approval of a cannabis cultivation project located just outside of the City’s limits near the Winchester Canyon Road neighborhood. […] The project calls for the development of 17 acres of nursery and outdoor cannabis cultivation, processing and distribution on a property zoned for agricultural use at 222 Winchester Canyon Road, 0.5 miles outside of City limits.”

••• The apartment complex proposed for the commuter parking lot at Carrillo and Castillo streets moved forward, reports Noozhawk. It’s shown in the first drawing below. The other three—which I’m including to make a point that architectural variety would be welcome—are of 201 E. Haley, 701 N. Milpas, and 630 Chapala.

So you can get cocktails to go from bars and restaurants now and solicit the downtown area but vendors with a liquor license selling sealed product to consumers can be fined and potentially lose their license to sell?? Makes sense

The goal seems mostly to ban the sale of mini bottles, which lets people with money keep buying all the liquor they want.
