We need a future Burning Questions post about what the M and arch on the crest represent đ
The market has definitely cooled and the amount of water that Hope Ranch property consumes should be illegal!

It's amazing places like Earl Warren showgrounds want to do a massive remodel and spend so much money. These all seem like top signals where people are blowing so much money on construction everywhere and then the rug just gets pulled out under everyone. Also, shocking for the city to be so broke yet to have construction going on everywhere. Makes no sense.
But they are working on passing a bill that a six story apartment building can be built on any SR one light within a half a mile of a bus stop. That just continues to degrade all common sense so you're single family home next-door can demo and build a six story apartment building. Ridiculous.
Senate Bill 79, authored by San Francisco Democrat Sen. Scott Wiener, would âupzoneâ neighborhoods immediately surrounding train, light rail and subway stations in many of the stateâs most populous metro areas. That means apartment developers will be able to construct residential buildings â some as tall as 75 feet â regardless of what local zoning maps, elected officials or density-averse neighbors say.
Not sure it's this exact bill, but the guys name from San Francisco is appropriate. I mean, instead of shoving more people in areas that are fully⌠Full. Hate to say it but start developing the coast line to solving. Of course you won't open areas but we don't want to live on top of each other to preserve these areas. So sorry.
Not too long ago, State Street had many thrift stores like these. That was when State Street was very vibrant and fun. I would much rather have them than chain stores or empty spaces that is for sure!
Agreed. Speed comes with focus. With the cityâs strict building codes, itâs astounding that this design has gained any traction.

Cal Matters reported on the bill with a little bit of shade implying itâs a bunch of rich Santa Barbarian NIMBYs who donât want that development behind the missionâŚwrong. Itâs also us working locals! I am all for more low income housing - Iâve qualified for it before - but this building is a hideous monstrosity that shouldnât exist. In this era of âblack and white/extremeâ thinking and debate, we need to understand multiple things can be true at the same time. Truth: we need more housing. Truth: this building is awful in many ways. We need to find a solution, but it isnât this project.
Thank you Senator LimĂłn for standing up for REAL Santa Barbarians who donât want this! We arenât a bunch of rich celebrities; weâre real people who live and work here and recognize a bad project when we see one.
This picture show reminds me of life back East, where, as the Western essayist Ed Abbey put it - "every sign begins with "No" --
Why did you go and get political? So dumb,
I would love some information on the condos and homes and when these will be up for sale and information on them and any staging home or condos that I could see
Nope, but thanks for guessing!
The former Mira Monte hotel on East Cabrillo Blvd?
I met Lester in 1986 on a beach in Mexico. He was with Greg, his son. I went to his home in Monticeto and again met his son, Greg. I found out about his death from a mutual friend I has met through Lester. A man named Roge, a man from India. I never met his first wife and he referred to his wife Hana and son Jack, I never met them and could not quite understand the relationship.
Loved themââď¸ got one of my favorite nicknames from Andy #debra
My mom got married there back when Andy and Dolly owned it.
What were they thinking when they got rid of the wooden beams at 1071 E. Mountain drive (can be seen in the previous listing photos on Redfin.com but not in the app) and turned it into a prefab/container home lacking any character whatsoever?
We went shortly after they opened and enjoyed the staff, location, and what they'd done with the place, but the food was just bland. Very sad because they Mesa could really use an Indian place like Apna. Whether in person or via Grubhub, Apna has never disappointed.
Let us work on this Hilary - lol
xo
Thanks Eric!
Mate G. dreams about these cottages every day - and one right in our neighborhood. Heaven.
I live near 22O W Figueroa and was shocked to see the for sale front of that shack the other day. And $1.7 mill for a seemingly haunted meth lab?? Hard pass.
It's refreshing to see the word "entropy" in a real estate story. It brings an air of literary sophistication. I bet you are the only writer to use it in that context.
A massive structure in a fire prone area with pretty much one way out. A blue print for death and disaster.
Someone ran into it. Poor visibility at that spot due to the flat road at the top of the incline. Thatâs why they went with crossing lights like a stop light.
Ainât happening.
Do you have the same dream every night?
