Which corner?
The corner of Patterson & Hollister is receiving lots of landscaping. What is coming to that location?
whoops, my reply was intended to be for Karen L - below! But as long as I'm explaining that, I will meanwhile note that one of the most perplexing things about Santa Barbara to a former New Yorker is the success of Rusty's?
I believe the Folded Hills folks are scions from the Busch family (as in Budweiser), so you wonder why their business couldn't stay afloat?
No big surprise Folded Hills is closing on CVR. They took a prime space and one can have wine tasting just about anywhere. This space deserves something unique and interesting.
You got it!
Agean restaurant at De La Guerra Plaza.
So sad about the purchase of the Michael Kate building by Rusty’s. Wherever they go, enhancing a neighborhood is not their goal. They took a prime location in Summerland and hardly have a place to sit down in a restaurant starved community. Ugh. Not a fine addition to the funk zone.
Re "A $10/pp walk-in or reservation fee comes with a complimentary Miracle light-up beanie and a portion will be donated to Wilderness Youth Project." at Miracle at Pearl Social. Is the portion $0.10, or maybe $5.00? Shouldn't a business advertising that it is sharing some portion of a customers money with a nonprofit [presumably to increase the customer count and good will] be more transparent by actually disclosing the amount or the percentage being donated?
Nope, but thanks for guessing!
Such a pleasure to be able to make a reservation. Had a delicious meal Thursday with warm, attentive service. And while Brian's food is always rightfully praised as some of the best in town-not enough credit is given to Andrea for his concise, effective and affordable wine list. Bravo!!
Kanaloa Seafood on Chapala St?
I agree with Tamara and Chris. Having an additional section of this website for travel sounds nice. I would also try to distribute a one page brochure to airbbnb owners and hotel front desks with a QR code to the website page. Your credibility stemming from your vast coverage would go pretty far. Siteline could be news for locals and recommendations for visitors
Yeah. It feels really tight inside. It’s charming at first glance, but there’s not much space, especially if you have 2 kids. But it looks like your zoned for Peabody, so that’s the big upside for a lot of parents.
Puesta Del Sol has me baffled. It’s changed hands like 5 times in the last 6-7 years. Is it haunted? Nightmare neighbor?
Occasional Hitching Post special “bone in Rib Eye” is under $90 and worth every penny
That’s less than Lucky’s
Fantastic news about the brass bird possibly coming to our neighborhood. Has this been confirmed ? Also will this location have a full menu or will it be a limited menu like they have in their carpinteria location ?
BTW I drive to carpinteria 2-3 times a week just to have coffee and pastries and their delicious breakfast sandwich. Looking forward to this wonderful addition to San Roque.
Thomas
Looks fantastic and can’t wait to go! We just need to clean up the rest of that block now!
Just had the little gem salad with chicken shawarma at Tamar for lunch today because of you! It is exceptional and I plan to have it again and again. Thank You!
Whoa. $110 ribeye….at Little Mountain. Typo?
Love the idea of an SB guidebook!
Before a trip, I do a hodgepodge of Google searches e.g. "Best dining with a view", Tripadvisor "Top 10 attractions" YouTube videos to get a visual of where I'm headed & learn a little about the geography, terrain, culture ... sadly, some YouTube travel videos have been overrun with drones & A.I. not real humans.
Next, I create a "Note" in my phone with links. I guess I create my own guidebook -?? Then as I move through my trip, I update my "Note" and add new discoveries, tips/tricks, etc. for my own records and in case a friend asks, "Hey, what can you recommend for a trip to _______?"
Having said all that, would Wikitravel be a good option? But maybe Erik you couldn't be as opinionated as you would like :)
Love the Brass Bird idea.
Tamar is so good! It's a true S.B. gem.
As a local I find myself coming here first whenever we're in the mood to try something new! I think you would put together a great guide.
As a traveler, my preference is something I can download and refer to without wifi. Digging through blogs and reddit threads with spotty service can be a pain. E-Reader or PDF makes the most sense to me, and something you could easily incorporate here.
I know Air BnB has experiences... I wonder if there's a way to sell self guided food/attraction tours?
