ICE Agents Pepper-Spray Citizens in Santa Barbara and Carpinteria

••• “A Carpinteria man was pepper-sprayed by a federal immigration [on January 14] while observing and recording what residents described as a series of Immigration and Customs Enforcement vehicle stops across town” (Coastal View News). Meanwhile, on the Eastside on Wednesday, an ICE agent pepper-sprayed an observer at close range because she was filming (Independent and Noozhawk).

••• “The roughly 11-mile trail network at Baron Ranch, including the main Arroyo Quemado Trail, remains closed after the strong rains that hit Santa Barbara County in late December and early January caused heavy damage. […] County representatives said the main Arroyo Quemado Trail could “maybe” be open again in a month, pending weather conditions, but the Loop Trail will likely require long-term repairs.” —Noozhawk

••• “The County of Santa Barbara took in $1.7 million in tax revenue from cannabis operations during the first quarter of the 2025-26 fiscal year, an increase from the same period last year [….] Of the six dispensaries permitted in unincorporated areas of the county, only three are currently open for business [….] Of the three other locations, the Los Alamos location is under review by the Planning & Development Department and is expected to open by the end of 2027, and a dispensary in Eastern Goleta Valley is expected to open by the end of 2026.” —Noozhawk

Christine!

The dispensary in Los Alamos? The land it was being built on – next to Plenty- is for sale…again. Goleta has so many pot shops I basically got 1/2 my order for free because I was a first time customer to the 6th shop I have walked into. The place east of Trader Joe’s on Calle Real has great deals but only 2 parking spots- they encourage you to park across the street and jaywalk back to the shop

Interesting development about the Rivian outpost since that company doesn’t do traditional dealerships for sales or service and most of the existing showrooms are in higher-traffic retail spaces away from other car brands, like Tesla started out doing before it went to auto centers. The ones in Venice and Laguna Beach are prime examples.

But it’s probably needed because there’s very little infrastructure for them across SB, Ventura, SLO and Monterey counties and they clearly need a sales/service point in there as their sales and lineup grow.

With the R2 coming out this year they will need the infrastructure for sales and service.

Im hoping the R2 does well without taking too much market share from Tesla. I think we need a second dominant American EV manufacturer. Chinese ev manufacturers are dominating internationally.

These people were not “observers” They were actively impeding, obstructing federal law enforcement effort to detain criminal illegal aliensWhere were they when millions of illegal aliens, many criminals, allowed to stream across the border unimpeded?

If these people object to ICE efforts, urge the cities and County to honor ICE detainers for criminal illegal aliens. Meanwhile the law will be enforced

Also where is the outcry against our taxes being raised, our pot hole filled streets neglected in Carpinteria while the City Council hands out $250,000+ to illegal alien support groups

Please people read the law, enforce it or change it, or act to assist honest illegal aliens to gain lawful status rather than all this meaningless virtue signaling

Dad—you are the closed-minded hate and discrimination that’s the real problem in the Santa Barbara community. It’s hilarious that people like you think you’re open-minded, yet you’ll do anything to shut down someone else’s point of view. Interfering with law enforcement when they’re arresting child molesters is absurd. Until ultra-hateful people like you are directly affected in your safe little enclaves, you’ll keep fighting for the molesters and the drug dealers.

We are Mexican. We live on the Westside, and our neighborhoods are getting worse every single day. Our Latino restaurant owners are being hurt by illegal vending—all while white, rich, privileged people like you fight to protect it and silence the rest of us.

FYI: The Latinos who run legal businesses are barely keeping their heads above water because they actually follow the rules.

Imagine being a young Latina woman walking home late from a restaurant shift, having to pass under a bridge full of homeless people, feeling scared and harassed the whole way. You’d have to imagine it, because you’d never be in these neighborhoods at that hour to see the reality of what you’re fighting for.

It’s a truly bizarre community. White people get together to “support” all us immigrants, but they don’t actually care about us. They just love their gardener and their cleaning lady because those people serve a purpose for them. But 100%—they were the first ones to keep their distance during COVID because they thought those same workers would infect them. I saw it first hand. White women outside at the beach screaming at Mexicans to put masks on. That’s the behavior of people like DAD

If you really want to help immigrants, go down to the beach at the end of Milpas—there are a bunch of homeless people there right now. Bring them blankets this morning after the rain, bring coffee and warm food. Nah, you would never do that. Too scared.

Your words and your signs do nothing to help anybody. If you really want to help, go take a walk around our neighborhoods and see how safe you actually feel. Go to the wall where the day laborers wait, give some money to the kids who just got here from Mexico, reach out to the young men being fed crystal meth by others—who are now addicted and living on the street. You’ll find many of them right there at the wall. Go help.

Sad truth about Santa Barbara: it’s a community full of words and signs but very little real action that directly helps the people they claim to care about. Everyone would rather make signs, scream, stay at home unless they go to an event with other whites, and never actually go help someone. Low-IQ behavior.

Go make a real change. we definitely know the intentions are good, but it actually creates no help. You’re fighting to protect the criminals which actually makes our neighborhoods less safe, especially for our young women, our young Mexican women who are immigrants and don’t report anything to the police when something happens.
