A Better Look at Santa Barbara’s Next Beachfront Resort

••• Robert Green Company, developer of the 86-room resort at 433 E. Cabrillo Boulevard (at S. Calle Cesar Chavez) posted a couple of new renderings on its website, along with moodboard-style collages that may or may not be meaningful. Of note: “Interior of the grounds of the hotel, which are formed by the U-shaped building, feature an event lawn, pergolas, fire pits, and a striking water feature that draws the eye out to the Pacific Ocean. Rooftop pool deck with 360-degree ocean and mountain views, cabanas, and full-service bar.” When I spoke with a rep a few months ago, he said construction could start in the third quarter of this year.

••• ResortPass is running an ad on Instagram about how it now offers day passes at the Santa Barbara Athletic Club. They’re $50, which struck me as high till I called the club and asked if it sells day passes—which it does, but for $75.

••• It’s always great to see a local business expand: Studio B Salon at 108 W. Mission Street is annexing the neighboring space, and the salon will be known as SB Salon starting in August.

••• Invoca appears to be leaving 419 State Street (Haley/Gutierrez) after just two years: the entire 27,773-square-foot office is available for sublease. Or maybe the company has already left? Anyway, if you’re wondering what Invoca does, it’s “the cloud leader in AI-powered conversation intelligence for revenue teams,” according to a recent press release.

••• The True Love Always boutique on Coast Village Road is opening this Thursday.

••• Apartment #D at Jeff Shelton’s El Andaluz building (531 Chapala) has come on the market for $2.85 million, and there’s an open house this Thursday (10 a.m. to 1 p.m.) and Saturday and Sunday (2 p.m. to 4 p.m.)—which means you have a chance to check out a marvelous building that’s otherwise off-limits.

Someone needs to buy the athletic club and completely renovate it. So much potential with that space, but it’s so dated and certainly not even worth $20 for a day pass.
