Had a Ojai local come in- Rory’s wall fire has also (and obviously) damaged the adjoining business which is a theater- and its going to be a while for everything to be fixed to both standards…

Any updates on that "Kitchen 530" community kitchen on State Street?
I stopped asking because they were never forthcoming with information, and no progress seems to be getting made. There's a dormant Instagram account for it at (@sunstoneinthefunkzone).
Thanks for the great list! Do you know anything about the rooftop Sunstone Winery spot that’s supposed to open in the Funk Zone?
Yes, that's right. This is a closeup of a larger mural, created in 2014 by a non-profit called Youth Interactive. I was the lead, or mentor/facilitator of the project. I worked with 10 + kids ranging from 12 - 20 for this project. The moon and the stars as well as the waves were definitely my favorite part of the giant painting. I am shocked it has lasted outdoors up until now. X Colette
That sounds so fun and exciting!
Those mansard roofs always give me the creeps. Haunted mansion style. Why anyone considered them for Santa Barbara is beyond me. I guess like the song, “it was acceptable in the ‘80s”
Jenna,
Once again you should spend some money and open up a restaurant and show all these fools how to run a healthy option restaurant while still making a profit.

Would love it if Ramon would offer some Corazon favorites at his new place in Montecito. Public market is great but has become super busy and chaotic.
Well done and well loved.
Happy hearts and delicious food ❤️
Thank you for the comprehensive update! Some exciting prospects here. But also in true SB style the same few restaurant names creating similar or carbo copies of what already exists. How can we attract more diversity for cuisine here?
Ugh, thanks. I specifically asked whether they were opening in Bedda Mia....
FYI Yona Redz has a sign in the former Brazil Arts that says it is opening Mariscos, not the Bedda Mia spot. So excited.
Lilac has a sign up that they are opening Monday, January 8th. Exciting and welcome addition to the hood.
I’m assuming the City will be liable when someone inevitably slips and is injured on the renovated stairs— since a decision was made to value “heritage” over safety.
Within days of the steps opening they were indistinguishable from pre-“renovation.” What a waste of probably hundreds of thousands or more.
Aside from it still being slippery, how much of our money was wasted on this? It wasn’t free.
How does the community get their input taken into account by the HLC or else change out who’s on it and how it works? Obviously this was terrible judgement and most people aren’t sounding supportive of this decision. Anyone know?

Any updates on Augie's on State Street?

If you want to know the real story about this lot I am the son of the owner that was pushed out of it...
This is a disaster! Horrible facade and architectural design elements. The scale size and proportions of this rendering doesn’t fit in the area or anywhere in downtown Santa Barbara for that matter what a shame to build such a huge monstrous structure on such a little lot. I hope the city denies this disaster before Santa Barbara becomes another Santa Monica from out of state and city developers looking to just profit and run
I'd donate multiple organs - possibly critical ones - to have that East Valley Road workshop!
Go back to LA lol.
