A Lifeline for Del Pueblo Café

••• Del Pueblo Café, in the Magnolia Shopping Center, posted a GoFundMe (via Edible Santa Barbara): “Due to the current economic situation, we’ve fallen behind on some bills. Our rent, which is close to $9,000 a month, has put a really heavy strain on our finances as a small business. We are now being asked to pay $32,741.69 in past-due bills that we’ve been doing our best to keep up with. We have until Friday, October 10, to pay or we will have to close our doors.” The restaurant raised just over $25,000, which was enough to keep it open for three years, according to the Independent.

••• Indochine, at 434 State Street (Gutierrez/Haley), won’t be reopening. It suffered damage in a fire last November.

••• Aegean has started serving Sunday brunch, 10 a.m. to sellout.

••• Dang Burger‘s fish sandwich—offered fried or grilled—is now available every Friday. American cheese is available if you want it Filet-O-Fish–style.

••• The Santa Barbara Harbor & Seafood Festival is this Saturday, October 18: “Come enjoy an abundance of sustainably harvested high-quality seafood. Meet fishermen face-to-face. Select local fresh-caught lobster, crab, and sea urchin. Visit specialty food booths for fish tacos, oysters, mussels, barbecued albacore, clam chowder, seafood paella, and more. I’ve been a regular customer of Del Pueblo Cafe for years. I know ownership changed through family. The new gal seemed OK. A few a months ago a friend and I stopped in again for lunch. We ordered some Guacamole with our chips. The owner said they were out. I happened to have a few hundred Avos in my truck. I went out and brought them a bag 30 or so. Not ripe, but very nice of me. Owner took them with no thanks and we never saw her again? We paid our tab with a $100 bill. The waitress told us they did not have any change? And then left the burden on us to come up with the proper amount? (they could of went to ralphs for change).So rude! We vowed never to come back there again. Now they are begging for $ through go fund me? Your customer service went downhill and the portions were shrinking. The customer is #1. You failed in biz. Your fault! As a businessman I would never beg for $ if my biz failed. The new generations are pathetic!
