New Adventure Playground in the Santa Ynez Valley

••• The Highline Adventures park outside Buellton has a new attraction called Skynet Playground: “It’s an awesome new activity for younger guests,” says founder Jeff Hartman. “Prior to the Skynet, we needed kids to weight at least 75 pounds for the zipline and four feet tall for the Adventure Park. That pretty much meant that kids under the age of 10 couldn’t get outside and have fun at Highline. Now we can get kids as young as two up in the park!” I would’ve loved this when I was young.

••• The Creative Lab has opened at 31 E. Canon Perdido Street. “With a mission rooted in creativity, confidence, and connection, The Creative Lab offers process-based, hands-on art experiences for kids ages 5 to 14,” including “classes in clay, painting, photography, mixed media, and more.”

••• Three more shops selling women’s apparel have opened at The Post: RLT (below), Velvet (which has menswear, too), and Jamie Haller.

••• I reached out to La Casa de Maria to ask whether there has been any progress, and I was told that the rebuilding “remains in the planning and development stages.” In the meantime, the organization is “welcoming groups up to 50 people focused on spiritual growth, peace, and community enhancement to enjoy our beautiful terrace room, great room, courtyard, and outside patio. Bookings will be arranged around construction and are for programs only.” (“Programs are events that are organized by outside people or groups with the same spiritual growth or community benefit mission as La Casa de Maria.”) Contact [email protected] for more info.

••• Ensemble Theatre Company announced its 2025-2026 season: War of the Worlds: The Panic Broadcast; The Complete Jane Austen, Abridged; The Shark Is Broken; A Night With Janis Joplin; and Every Brilliant Thing.

••• Opening May 30 at Sullivan Goss: Kindred, works by Leslie Lewis Sigler. “Known for her luminous, hyper-realistic portraits of inherited silver, Sigler now broadens her scope, orchestrating layered tablescapes that evoke the subtle importance of domestic life.”

••• T. asked when the tennis courts at Manning Park might finally reopen—it’s been years—and the word from the county’s Parks department is that “We can expect construction to begin next month as the construction contract is going to the Board in early June.”

••• No one identified last week’s Where in Santa Barbara…?, so here’s the answer: it’s at My Gym on Vernon Road, just off De La Vina (more or less across from Handlebar Coffee Roasters).

Love the folks who operate the zipline park- you should go visit their protea farm Erik. The article should point out the $25 fee per child + reservations to visit are mandatory
