Apples to Zucchini Cooking School
Santa Barbara's only nonprofit cooking school for kids, teens, and adults
Apples to Zucchini Cooking School is Santa Barbara’s only nonprofit cooking school, bringing people together over shared meals through hands-on culinary education for kids, teens, adults, and families.
Our classes are designed for all skill levels and celebrate the best of Santa Barbara’s seasonal, locally grown ingredients. From weekly after-school programs and kids’ camps to family classes, adult cooking classes, and private events, we help people of all ages build confidence in the kitchen while learning to prepare delicious, nutritious, and affordable meals.
We offer programs at our teaching kitchens in Santa Barbara and Solvang, as well as at elementary schools throughout the community. We also partner with local nonprofits to provide free culinary education to food- and housing-insecure communities throughout Santa Barbara County.
We offer:
• Weekly after-school cooking classes at local elementary schools
• Family cooking classes
• Adult cooking classes
• Spring, summer, and holiday camps for kids in grades TK–6
• Kids’ birthday parties
• Private cooking classes and corporate events
We hope you’ll join us in the kitchen!

“My daughter is taking the after-school enrichment class with A to Z through a GUSD school and said it was her "favorite enrichment class ever"! She was so proud to come home and show us what she made, have us try it, and show us her knife skills. She is only 7 and a somewhat picky eater and it is so amazing to see her build confidence and open her palate to new foods in a kind and supportive class.” — Mandy Westerman
“We signed up for a family class and everyone had a great time! In addition to learning basic cooking skills, I noticed that my daughters (ages 11 & 7) were more open to trying new healthy foods when they were the ones who cooked it. Will definitely try to incorporate this into our daily routine. I also love that they stress the importance of sitting down and sharing a meal with family without screens or other distractions.” — Darren Doi
“A to Z literally changed my life. I learned how to make sourdough there, and it has become a regular beloved practice. I love the real-world impact of their mission: to teach kids (and adults!) how to cook and eat healthy foods, a joyful and essential skill. I'm a huge fan.” — Maggie Mason
